The multi Award Winning Carlton House Bed & Breakfast in York has been offering high quality four-star accommodation to visitors for a number of years and has built up an enviable reputation within the regional tourism industry.
Winner of Visit York Tourism Peoples Choice Award 2014, Carlton House run by owners Mark and Melanie Richardson is a lovingly restored 1830s Grade 1 listed Georgian townhouse, which has retained many of its original features and combined them with modern amenities to make any stay comfortable and memorable.
We were Visit York Guest House of the Year 2008 and finalists in 2010, 2012 & 2013 and Highly Commended Finalist in 2011.
Situated on the tree lined and tranquil Mount, gateway to the historic City of York, within walking distance of the city centre, 10 minutes stroll to York Racecourse and York Railway Station, the establishment offers 12 en-suite rooms over three floors. Each room has been individually designed to the highest standard and boasts wall mounted flat-screen TVs, hairdryer, tourist information pack, magazines and a hospitality tray with tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water. Room sizes range from doubles to twins to family rooms, which comfortably sleep up to four guests.
Single occupancy of double en-suite rooms may be available on request (Sun to Thurs inclusive subject to availability).
Carlton House is well known for providing an exceptional breakfast, receiving many compliments from guests on the quality, presentation and variety of fare on offer.
We offer friendly family orientated accommodation so reservations from stag, hen or single sex groups will not be taken. We offer rooms for families with children over 5 years old.
We are a converted Georgian townhouse and not a purpose built bed & breakfast so do not have the benefit of a lift, if you are infirm or have trouble with stairs, please request a room on a lower floor at the time of booking.
We try and keep our rates as competitive as possible by asking guests to 'Book Direct' through a secure link via our own website. We do NOT advertise through online commission paying booking sites so our (like for like) rates are typically at least 15% lower than our competitors. Online booking sites can charge upwards of 18% commission +vat which comes off a B&B/hotels top line somewhere in the equation and is more often than not added back in.
